Why Cadwell Park?

Cadwell Park is the ultimate UK driver’s circuit—technical, narrow, and packed with character. Its signature elevation changes, flowing corners, and iconic Mountain section make it a perfect challenge for agile cars like the Renault Clio 200. Whether you're building confidence or chasing lap times, Cadwell delivers a rewarding and unforgettable track day experience.

Start/Finish Straight & Coppice

On a flying lap, stay right after the pits. Coppice comes fast, resist early turn-in. The Clio responds well to a late apex; keep it stable, aim mid-track, and prepare position the car to the left ready for  Charlies.

Charlies (1 & 2)

Momentum is everything here. Charlies 1 is blind and uphill—trust the grip. Apex early, then let the Clio push slightly wide. For Charlies 2, be smooth and progressive on throttle. FWD understeer is a risk if you rush it. Late apex and power cleanly for max exit speed onto Park Straight—critical for the Clio's modest power.

Park & Chris Curve

Brake earlier than you feel you should—Clio's brakes are strong, but the dip unsettles the rear. Park is tight; turn-in needs to be clean. Avoid rough kerbs to keep traction.
Chris Curve suits the Clio’s balance. Stay left, trail brake lightly, and use the car’s front-end bite to turn earlier than you'd dare in a RWD. Let it flow.

Gooseneck

Don’t rush it. The Clio’s stable under braking, but it's easy to overload the front tyres here. Brake before the right, settle the car, and make a decisive but smooth left turn. Trust the chassis and commit to throttle early to carry momentum down the hill.

Mansfield

FWD Clio will lock the inside front easily here if you’re too hot. Brake early, late apex, and get back on the power with minimal understeer. Traction out is important to gap any tailgaters before The Mountain.

The Mountain

You can be assertive here—the Clio stays composed over crests. Turn in late for the left, and carry momentum up the right. If it's dry, you can take the crest with full throttle. In the wet, lift slightly to stop wheelspin.

Hall Bends & Hairpin

Hall Bends feel narrow—smooth weight transfer is key. The Clio likes a late apex; set up for the unseen left. Brake hard in a straight line for the Hairpin. Use 2nd gear, don’t rush the throttle. FWD means smooth exit matters more than brute force.

Barn Corner

Clio handles off-camber well but don’t get greedy—too early and you’ll understeer off-line. Turn in early, hug the middle, and apply power smoothly downhill. Good drive out sets you up for a fast start/finish run—use all the revs in 3rd.

Cadwell Park Clio 200 Driving Tips

  • Maximise exit speed, not just entry
Focus on setting up corners like Charlie’s, Park, and Barn for clean exits. A slower entry often results in faster lap times thanks to stronger acceleration onto the straights.

  • Stay smooth and balanced
Cadwell’s flowing sections—such as Chris Curve and Hall Bends—require fluid inputs. Avoid harsh braking or steering corrections that could upset the car’s balance.

  • Use the Clio’s agility to your advantage
Aspire’s track-prepped Clio 200 is built for quick direction changes and tight corners. Let the chassis rotate naturally with lift-off when needed, especially in technical areas like the Gooseneck.

  • Take time to reset between sessions
The track demands full concentration, with very few rest points. Step away, hydrate, and mentally review your last session before heading out again.
